OBEDIENCE TO GOD IS OUR JOY

Joshua 1:6-9 NIV
[6] Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. [7] “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go. [8] Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful. [9] Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

Many people think that prosperity and success come from having power, influential personal contacts, and a relentless desire to get ahead. But the strategy for gaining prosperity that God taught Joshua goes against such criteria. He said that to succeed Joshua must:

(1) Be strong and courageous because the task ahead would not be easy
(2) Obey God’s law
(3) Constantly read and study the Book of Instruction—God’s Word.

To be successful, follow God’s words to Joshua. You may not succeed by the world’s standards, but you will be a success in God’s eyes—and his opinion is most important.

Obedience is such an important principle of being prosperous successful with God. Staying wholehearted in meditation and reading of Gods Word daily, along with a deep connection with God through your prayer life is essential to strive in your walk with God.

Romans 10:17 NIV
[17] Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.

If you want inner peace and contentment in your life, you must crucify any patterns of sin in your life. Impurity will render you joyless and faithless. If you are not giving your contribution of what you vowed to God on Sunday, every Sunday, you aren’t loving God and His Kingdom as the 1st priority in your life. You will always seem to be struggling with money because of greed and selfishness. Also when you make a promise to God and don’t keep it, you are a liar.

Haggai 1:5-7 NIV
[5] Now this is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways. [6] You have planted much, but harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to put them in a purse with holes in it.” [7] This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought to your ways.

When you hold back from giving to God and His mission, you will have money troubles always until you repent.

When we don’t repent of sin in our lives we become deceived over time and wonder why we aren’t happy in Gods church. The verses below explain how this happened to David when he didn’t deal with his sins.

Psalm 32:1-5 NIV
[1] Blessed is the one whose transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. [2] Blessed is the one whose sin the Lord does not count against them and in whose spirit is no deceit. [3] When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. [4] For day and night your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. [5] Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord.” And you forgave the guilt of my sin.

Galatians 6:7-9 NIV
[7] Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. [8] Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. [9] Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

You can’t expect to reap any benefits from God if you are mocking Him in disobedience.

Galatians 6:7-8 MSG
Don’t be misled: No one makes a fool of God. What a person plants, he will harvest. The person who plants selfishness, ignoring the needs of others— ignoring God!— harvests a crop of weeds. All he’ll have to show for his life is weeds! But the one who plants in response to God, letting God’s Spirit do the growth work in him, harvests a crop of real life, eternal life.

James 4:7-10 MSG
[7-10] So let God work his will in you. Yell a loud no to the Devil and watch him scamper. Say a quiet yes to God and he’ll be there in no time. Quit dabbling in sin. Purify your inner life. Quit playing the field. Hit bottom, and cry your eyes out. The fun and games are over. Get serious, really serious. Get down on your knees before the Master; it’s the only way you’ll get on your feet.

1 Corinthians 15:50 NIV
[50] I declare to you, brothers and sisters, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.

OBEY GOD OR FALL AWAY EVENTUALLY…..these are the only two realities!
