The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.”
Proverbs 14:1
Many have said, “I believe in Science, so I can not believe in God.” But what if science proves the existence of God? Would people still fight to believe? What if we could prove there is a God, and the Bible is the Word of God, would we then follow the Scriptures? Let us consider why people refuse the truth, even when the evidence is so clear.
“The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse.” Romans 1:18-20
Evil causes people to suppress the truth, deny it and even defy it! Without a creator, we would have no purpose and no standard of right and wrong. Only the strong survive, with no consequences for how we treat each other because the truth would be subjective to each individual; We would have World War II all over again (Hitler trying to “further” humanity through evolution by destroying the “weak”). One would never have to feel guilty for the negative impact on those around them! Without a creator, we would have no real purpose. It would be by random chance that we are here, an accident that we are alive; Our entire existence would be entirely meaningless.
However, the facts of science do not provide us this privilege of doing as we please with no consequences. From a look at creation, we can scientifically prove that there is absolutely, and undeniably a God. There are two ways to establish a fact; Proof using our senses or proof of reasoning. We may never see, taste, touch, smell, or hear our brain, but from observing cadavers and using modern technology such as an MRI machine, we can reason that we also have a brain. Through proof of reasoning, we will see that it is more reasonable to believe that there is a God than the alternative.
In creation, the universe is the most complex system. In 1929 Edwin Hubble observed that the Universe is expanding; Solidifying the fact that there was a beginning to the Universe. If there is a beginning to the Universe, we must ask ourselves was there a plan to the Universe or was it created by accident?
The evidence of fine-tuning of the Universe proves there is a plan for the creation of the Universe. The following ratios explain the probability of the existence of life or having matter suitable for life to exist. Ratio of Electrons: Protons 1:10^37, Ratio of Electromagnetic Force: Gravity 1:10^40, Expansion Rate of Universe 1:10^55, Mass Density of Universe 1:10^59, Cosmological Constant 1:10^120. According to Roger Penrose the probability of the Big Bang happening the way it did to create matter that can sustain life, and life to exist is that of 10 to the 123 power! To help us understand how great this number, there are only 10 to the 79 power of atoms in the whole Universe. Scientifically the chance of the Universe happening without a plan is impossible as in practical terms, in probability theory, odds of less than 1:10^50 equals “zero probability.”
Not only is the probability of the Universe happening by accident zero, but the law of Entropy shows it to be impossible. “All processes manifest a tendency toward decay and disintegration, with a net increase in what is called the entropy, or state of randomness or disorder, of the system. This is called the Second Law of Thermodynamics.” (The Remarkable Birth of Planet Earth, by Henry Morris: p. 14)
In other words, It would be impossible for the Universe to form a complex system by itself, as everything goes from order to disorder unless there is an outside source. All this proves there had to be a plan for the creation of the Universe!
If we have a plan, we must have a planner! A Spirit since He is unseen. All powerful and all knowing since He created life and brought everything together. Eternal and Everywhere since He created time and everything inside and outside the Universe. Our primary definition of God is a Spirit who is all knowing, all powerful, eternal, and everywhere.
The case for God is not just one that is impressive; it is one that is undeniable. Einstien believed in a creator, Darwin believed in a creator, and even Stephen Hawkings believes in a creator, oddly enough Hawkins calls Him, “Aliens.” We are now all Agnostic. How do we know who this Creator is? The Bible is the answer!
The Bible is not just one book, but actually 66 books. Starting in 1450bc through 95ad these 66 books were written by 40 different authors, in 3 different continents, in 3 different languages. From Africa to Asia to Europe, in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Ancient Greek the scriptures were composed. In 150ad the books were canonized by Justin Martyr into one bound volume called the Holy Bible. Holy, meaning set apart and Bible meaning many books. In the entire Universe, there is no other book like the Holy Bible.
When reading through the Bible cover to cover, we find It tells one story, and every book is in harmony. Scientifically this would be impossible, as some books were written at the same time in different places and during different life events (times of peace and times of war). The authors are all different, some farmers, shepherds, prisoners, kings, and one a prime minister, yet write with the same perspective because there is one mind behind the scriptures! Consider what the Bible says about this in 2 Peter 1:20-21
“Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet’s own interpretation of things. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though human, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”
There is a God, and He wrote the scriptures! Now let us stop making excuses and start doing what the Bible teaches! To God be the glory!
