Greetings from Manila, Philippines!
Cambodia is celebrating Khmai New Year. Denise and I have traveled to Philippines to spend time with Ricky, Co, Mina and the Metro Manila MERCY team.
MERCY will be partnering with La Huerta Elementary School and Education Under the Bridge for this year’s event during the Pac Rim Conference. (Ricky and Co, The MERCY Manila Team, Myla (middle left) the Principal of the school and the founder of Education Under the Bridge, Teacher Fe (middle right)Teacher Fe started teaching 12 children “under a bridge” in a very poor fishing village outside of Manila twelve years ago. Today she has 167 children in her program that she aptly named, “Education Under the Bridge”. These little girls, ages 6 and 8, live in the fishing village and work helping their parents clean the clams and muscles after the day’s catch. Breaking bread together at a trendy restaurant in Manila with the Challinors and Perezes, building memories and dreaming and scheming about the Philippines, Cambodia and SEAsia!!
