This past Saturday was the 2nd South Central Dating Devotional for the dating couples in our region! It was so inspiring to see how God brought all these disciples together into a relationship that both glorifies Him and is the hope for the world that purity in dating is very possible with God! Patrick and I had the honor of being guest speakers at the devotional and it brought me back to the days when I too so desperately needed to learn about what it meant to put God first in a dating relationship. The lesson gave valuable insight to some key points: “seeking to please God”, “seeking self control” and “seeking patience” given by our shepherd Nick, which are vital attitudes of the heart that we need to possess when dating. It was great to teach how we can honor Him through seeking first the kingdom in dating by keeping it a spiritual relationship – NO IDOLATRY – and protecting each others hearts against the sin that so easily entangles by being wise in the situations we can put ourselves in and in the decisions we make. Pat preached an incredible lesson and I was delighted to share some practicals about how to have a successful dating relationship some of which are: putting God first by being spiritually prepared (being focused on God by having deep quiet times and being ready to give on the date)and having an outward focus and using the relationship to bring others around you to God. It helped me to have an increase of gratitude to see how God has blessed us to be able to get married in His kingdom through us seeking first his righteousness even during the some of most challenging times! It really brought things into perspective about how much the couples are “champions” and great examples to the world and for the disciples who are not yet dating, but in accordance with God’s planning and timing, will too be taught and trained in the right way to date in the kingdom of God. “Trust in The Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding of things; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Pat and Sparkle got to share at this month’s Dating Devo about their
dating journey, which led to their marriage of now 7 months!
